Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026. This explains what takeyourspot.co.uk collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Takeyourspot, London, United Kingdom, is the data controller for information collected through takeyourspot.co.uk. Contact: hello@takeyourspot.co.uk.
What we collect
When you place a bid: the URL or @handle you're listing, the bid amount, category, an optional one-line description, and an optional name. None of this requires an account — there's no login system on this site.
If you request a VAT invoice: email address, and optionally a business name, business address, and VAT number, so we can generate and send that invoice.
Payment card details are never collected or stored by us. Checkout is handled entirely by Stripe — your card number, expiry, and CVC go directly to Stripe, not through our servers. Stripe's own privacy policy covers that data: stripe.com/gb/privacy.
What we don't collect
We don't run analytics or advertising trackers, and our site doesn't set its own cookies. We don't sell or rent data to third parties, ever.
Why we process it
To operate the leaderboard (your bid amount and listing are shown publicly — that's the entire product), to generate VAT invoices where requested, and to meet UK tax record-keeping obligations. Where processing relies on contract performance, that's Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR; where it's a legal obligation (invoice/tax records), that's Article 6(1)(c).
Who we share it with
Stripe, to process payment. Our hosting provider, to run the servers this site runs on. We don't share bidder data with anyone else, and we don't use it for marketing unless you separately opt in somewhere that says so.
How long we keep it
Listing and bid data (URL, amount, category) stays on the public board for as long as the listing exists — that's the product working as intended. Invoice-related records (email, business details, VAT number) are kept for 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, restrict or object to processing, or receive your data in a portable format. Email hello@takeyourspot.co.uk to exercise any of these. Note that your bid amount and listing itself are the public product — we can remove a listing, but we can't retroactively hide a bid that determined the board's history without affecting other users' fair standing, so get in touch and we'll talk through what's possible.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site involves real financial payments and isn't intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
